ogether.
A person can read the Bible and not really ‘get it,’ but this course adds that extra element of clarity, especially the history and culture of Jesus’ time and before.”   Class participant
The Parables of Jesus
17-23 October 7-9 p.m.
$15 by September 15 or $20 after
Jesus’ parables are timeless and profound. Yet each contains nuances of meaning that can be appreciated fully only when seen through ancient Middle Eastern eyes. With remarkable cultural insights from a Middle Eastern scholar, this course shows how Jesus’ audience would have understood 11 of his parables.
These courses will be delivered by the Rev. Rod Funk who is an active ELCA pastor from Ohio and has functioned within the Diocese of Algoma at the Bishop’s pleasure over the past 10 years, most recently serving as interim at St. John’s in North Bay.
Rod has health care training and 14 years’ experience as chaplain in health care settings. He has been in Christian ministry for 51 years.

The Crossways organization is delighted to have Rod use their materials for teaching purposes, to clarify and enhance the narrative which is God’s Holy Word.
