150th Anniversary of Bishophurst

For 150 years, Bishophurst has stood at the heart of the Diocese of Algoma. This September, we’re opening its doors once again for Doors Open Ontario, inviting the community to explore one of Sault Ste. Marie’s most significant heritage buildings through guided tours, history, and family-friendly activities.

To mark the anniversary, we’re also offering a limited-edition commemorative Bishophurst 150th Anniversary T-shirt, with net proceeds supporting the Anne Germond Legacy Fund.

Visitors are invited to join the celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026, for a day of history, hospitality, and family fun.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore Bishophurst through guided tours, learn about the building’s rich history, and discover its continuing role in the Diocese of Algoma

To mark this milestone, the Diocese has also launched a limited-edition commemorative Bishophurst 150th Anniversary T-shirt. The shirts are now available for pre-order and will be ready for pickup at the Doors Open event on September 26. Net proceeds will support the Anne Germond Legacy Fund, helping to strengthen ministry across the Diocese.
