I have received no new information for the Deanery Digest. Please don’t forget to send me information on any upcoming events you have planned in your parish/congregation so that it can be shared across the Deanery.

Here is a  reminder of a few upcoming events I do have information for:
MUSIC MONDAY: Music Monday is an annual event that brings together thousands of students, musicians, parents and community members across the country to celebrate the gift of music in our lives. The Coalition for Music Education launched Music Monday in 2005.

The Church of the Epiphany Choir is one of several groups performing at “Sudbury Sings” a choral concert to mark Music Monday. The concert takes place at the Sheridan Auditorium at Sudbury Secondary School at 7:00pm on Monday May 5th. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. Other groups performing include Nickel City Sound, The Bel Canto Chorus, Octatonic Decadence and more. Each group will perform 2 songs and then, to end the concert, will sing as a massed chour of 200 voices to sing :  WE Rise Again” and the Music Monday theme song “Is Somebody Singing” which was written by Colonel Chris Hadfield (Canadian Astronaut and former commander of the International Space Station) and Ed Robertson of the Canadian band, Bare Naked Ladies.
LADIES SPRING FLING: There will be a ladies Spring Fling gathering the morning of Saturday, May 10th starting at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity in Little Current.  We will have an interactive meeting to begin the morning followed by Eucharist.  All ladies are welcome to join us and if some men show up we will also make them feel at home.  This event is meant to strengthen and encourage our fellowship as women in the Deanery of Sudbury Manitoulin.  Please feel free to call 705-919-6541 or email beverlyvanderjagt@bell.net

LET’S TALK!

On Tuesday May 6th at 7pm, you are invited to join us at the Church of the Ascension on Sparks Street, for the first in our series of “Let’s Talk” evenings. These are designed for teens, young adults and their families.  This one will be on “Anxiety, Stress and Depression.”  The presenter and facilitator of this talk will be Kevin McPhee, a family therapist and social worker at Sudbury Regional Hospital working with young people and their families.  Please mark this date in your calendar and plan to attend. Your friends, neighbours and family members are all invited.
